Wedding : RYAN – ROBINSON
A very pretty wedding was celebrated at ‘Rose Villa’ Goroke, on Wednesday, 10th inst., when Mr John Ryan, eldest son of Mr and Mrs John Ryan, Goroke, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Miss Ruby Robinson, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs George Robinson, of Goroke, the officiating clergyman being Rev. Mr. McMeekin, Presbyterian. The ceremony took place in the drawing room, and as the bridal party entered the room The Voice That Breathed o’er Eden, was sung. The bride who was given away by her father, was charmingly attired in a white taffeta silk empire robe, the bodice being elaborately trimmed with silk insertion, and fine silk honeycomb net yoke cut low at the neck. Magyar sleeves trimmed with silk insertion and fine silk honeycombed net cuffs. Panel skirt, finished with silk overnet, buttons and girdle. She also wore a silk embroidered veil, fixed with a wreath of orange blossom, and a spray of orange blossom in her dress. Her only jewellery was a gold chain and spray pendant set with pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. She carried a pretty bouquet of white cosmos and asparagus fern, with white streamers.
Miss Ethel Robinson, sister of the bride, who acted as first bridesmaid, wore a dainty one-piece, white muslin dress with a square yoke of vallace, and trimmed with guipure insertion and fine pin tucks; Magyar sleeves, trimmed with guipure insertion and vallace. Shirt trimmed with guipure insertion down the middle of side gores, and fine pin tucks and val insertion round the bottom. The dress was finished with a pretty white girdle. She also wore a heavy gold dagger brooch, set with pearls, gift of the bridegroom, she also carried a bouquet of white and pink cosmos and asparagus fern, with streamers.
The second bridesmaid, Miss Gladys Robinson, sister of the bride, was gowned in a very pretty creme voile empire frock, with panel down the front trimmed with buttons; square yoke cut low at the neck, and trimmed with cream insertion. Cream sash tied at the back, and long streamers. The bridegroom’s gift to her was a gold wishbone brooch, set with a ruby and pearls. She carried a bouquet of white and pink cosmos and asparagus fern, with cream streamers.
The bridegroom was attended by Mr Allet Robinson, brother of the bride.
Miss Grace Walker played the Wedding March.
After the ceremony the bridal party and guests adjourned to the dining room, where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of. The tables were prettily decorated with pink cosmos and roses. The Rev. Mr McMeekin, who was in the chair, proposed the toast of the Bride and Bridegroom, and Bridegroom responded. The other toasts honoured were Bridesmaids by Rev Mr McMeekin, responded to by best man; Parents by Rev McKeekin, responded to by Mr Robinson.
The happy couple left by the evening train for Ballarat en route for Melbourne, where they are spending their honeymoon. The bride’s travelling dress was a navy blue tailor made coat and skirt costume with a panel skirt. Blue hat trimmed with ostrich tips, and ribbon with silk fringe, finished with buckle.

Our Minimay correspondent writes - Last Saturday, the Neuarpur school boys journeyed to Minimay, and played a friendly game of football with the local boys. Though each school could muster only nine or ten ‘men’ the game was fairly fast, as shown by the fact that two umpires were required - Messrs J.T. Carracher (till half time) and M. Morony, both of whom were first rate. The Minimay boys took the lead from the bounce, and ran out winners by 42 points. Final scores: 67 to 25. For Minimay L. Carracher, C. Hawkins, (Capt) J. Robbie and H. Pretlove showed good form, and P. McCarthy, G. Oliver (Capt), G. Miles and McIntosh were the pick of the losers. After the game all adjourned to the hall where the Minimay ladies had provided afternoon tea, which of course took on well. The team to represent Minimay on Saturday at Maryvale is as follows: J.
