Samuel BRIERLEY, farmer of Carapook, not shown on map signed the 1875 petition aimed at establishing a new school at Carapook but was not marked on the map. This Samuel has been difficult to identify but he could be the Samuel BRIERLEY born in Manchester who married an Elizabeth Jane NASH in 1869. No children have been located to this marriage which may explain why he is not shown on the Carapook map of families with school-age children in 1875.
