James HART, b. 1842, Dalrymple, Ayrshire, Scotland, son of John HART and Isabella CAMPBELL was married in 1866 at Coleraine, S-W Victoria to Mary EGAN, b. c1840 Dublin, Ireland, daughter of Henry EGAN and Ann BYRNES? Mary MILLER (nee EGAN) was a widow (possibly of Louis MILLER), with a daughter Mary MILLER, b. 1863, Hamilton, Vic when she married James HART in 1866.

James HART along with his parents and many siblings arrived at Point Henry, Geelong on "Banker's Daughter" in Sep 1853. The family settled near Geelong before James HART moved to the Carapook area between Casterton & Coleraine prior to 1866 where he married Mary MILLER, nee EGAN.

James HART's older sister Agnes HART, b. 1833, had also arrived at Point Henry, Geelong on "Banker's Daughter" in Sep 1853. Agnes married Henry BURCHELL at Geelong on 1854 and they were also settled at Carapook by 1867.

James HART with 5 school-aged children, living ½ mile E of Carapook was one of the signatures to the 1875 petition aimed at establishing a new school at Carapook.
