Charles selected land at Digby and in 1887 married Miriam McCALLUM 1864-1932, b. Digby, S-W Victoria to Donald McCALLUM & Caroline BEST.

In 1897 - E.(?) DOUGHENEY was listed as Chief Ranger for Court Perseverance No. 3319, Ancient Order of Foresters at Digby. [NOTE : This was probably Charles DOUGHENEY]

Charles wife, Miriam DOUGHENEY died at Digby, S-W Victoria in 1932 and her husband Charles DOUGHENEY died and Hamilton, S-W Victoria in 1944. They were both buried in the Digby cemetery.

2. Charles Arnold DOUGHENEY 1892-1969, b. Digby, S-W Victoria, d. Melbourne, Victoria
   • 1914 : Teacher at Warracknabeal State School.
   • 1914 : enlisted as Pte 1737, 6th Battalion, AIF on 18-12-1914
   • 1915 : joined unit as Pte 1737, 6th Battalion, AIF on 29-5-1915 at Gallipoli

     Private CHARLES DOUGHENEY, son of Mrs. C. Dougheney, of Digby, enlisted on the 18th of December, 1914, and embarked with the 4th Reinforcements to the 6th Battalion. After training for some time in Egypt, he joined his unit on Gallipoli on the 27th of May, 1915, and served there till the evacuation, with the exception of about two months in hospital, sick. He returned to Egypt with his unit after the evacuation, and, on the 17th of February, 1916, he was transferred to the 58th Battalion. He went to France with this unit. On the 19th of July, he was wounded in action and invalided to England. He returned to Australia as an invalid on the hospital ship Kanowna on the 11th of September, 1917, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 8th of March, 1918. His engagements had included Sixth Battalion attack on German Officers' Trench (7th Aug., '15), near Steel's Post at the time of the Lone Pine operations; and Fleurbaix in France (19/7/16), where he was wounded while stretcher-bearing with the 58th Battalion (A.M.C. Details). A younger brother, Private James L. Dougheney, was killed in action at Peronne on the 2nd of September, 1918. Prior to enlisting, Charles Dougheney was teaching at School No. 1334 Warracknabeal.

   • 1918 : Pte 1909, 60th Battalion, AIF, killed in action at Mont St Quentin, France on 2 Sep 1918.

   • Donald McLEOD enlisted with the 8th Battalion, AIF in 1915, served as Pte 3149 with the 6th Battalion, AIF, wounded in France, discharged in 1918.
