Alfred FARLEY 1818-1906, b. Battersea, near Wandsworth, London, England was one of the early settlers in Digby. Formerly a Sea Captain of the schooner "Enterprise" which was wrecked near Warrnambool, S-W Victoria and the brig "Panama".

Alfred FARLEY first settled at Cape Bridgewater, near Portland, then at Mount Gambier, "Pieracle" station, near Digby and finaly at Digby by 1859, where he became the Digby Pound Keeper and Licensee of the Digby Hotel.

Alfred D. FARLEY b. 1818 London was first married in 1847 at Launceston, VDL (Tasmania) to Martha LOWE from Norfolk, England who died at Cape Bridgewater in the 1854. He was then married in Portland, 1854 to Catherine CUNNEEN b. 1836 Limerick, Ireland.

Alfred FARLEY later settled at Digby where he became the Digby Pound Keeper and Licensee of the Digby Hotel.

Catherine FARLEY died at Digby in 1904 and her husband Alfred died there in 1906, both buried in the Digby cemetery.
