LOST IN THE BUSH.--A sensation was created in Digby on Tuesday evening of last week, when it became known that a boy eight years of age, son of Mr. Kilkelly, a farmer living between that town and Grassdale, was lost in the bush. It appears that the lad, with his brother and another boy, had gone out rabbiting early on Tuesday morning, and proposed returning home for dinner. Kilkelly refused to accompany his comrades, saying, they were not returning the proper way. They went off, thinking he would follow, but be did not, nor did he turn up during the night. Search parties were immediately organised, and the tracks of the wanderer followed as far as possible in the dense forest. After beating about in all directions for some hours, the little fellow was discovered by Mr. M'Clintock, and all hurried up to congratulate the almost distracted father. The wanderer stated that after losing his companions, he walked about in a number of directions, but conld not strike the right path for home, and when night came on he crept into a hollow log, where he remained until daylight. Then he again recommenced his weary tramp, until so fortunately rescued. The residents of the neighbourhood turned out in a most willing manner to aid in the search, and all were pleased to find that the boy had sustained no injury beyond a pretty bad fright, which should serve to keep him from wandering in the future.
1904 : Bartley KILKELLY died at Digby, S-W Victoria in 1904 and and buried in the Digby cemetery.
