Jacob LENBERG b. 1833, Sweden was married at "Green Hills," Condah, near Hotspur, S-W Victoria in 1856 to Elizabeth JOHNSON, b. c1834, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.

Jacob LENBERG appears to have "jumped ship" at Portland, S-W Victoria before 1856.

He was in the Portland, Condah, Hotspur, Digby, Branxholme, Sandford and Casterton areas from at least 1856 to 1867. He had a couple of recorded brushes with the legal system in the area in 1860 as follows...

CASTERTON.
PETTY SESSIONS. A court of Petty Sessions was held on Tuesday, the 10th instant, before Cuthbert Featherstonhaugh, Esq., P.M., and J. H Jackson, Esq., J.P.
Thomas Shaw and his wife, summoned by Jacob Lemberg for assault and stabbing with a knife at Sandford on the 27th of Dec., ultimo. Fined £5, and 12s. 6d. costs.

By 1868 Jacob and family were in Melbourne where more children were born up until 1880. He had another recorded brush with the legal system in Melbourne in 1887 as follows...

CASTERTON.
Police Intelligence.
At the Northcote Court on Tuesday a woodcarter named Jacob Lenberg, and his son George, were charged with cruelty to a horse, the former as the owner, and the latter as the driver. Mr. Miller prosecuted on behalf of the Society for the Protection of Animals, and proved by the evidence of Senior-constable Marks that on the 22nd June he found the horse drawing a heavy load of wood through Northcote. He found on examining the animal that the shoulders were badly galled, and there were large red sores under the saddle, neither the collar nor the saddle being chambered. The accused was fined 20s., and 21s. costs.

Jacob and Elizabeth had a large family (see below) and died at Diamond Creek, Victoria in 1901 and 1899 rspectively, and are both buried in a cemetery at Diamond Creek.
