John McCONACHY b. 1815 Co Derry, Ireland, son of Thomas McCONACHY and Magaret McCOMBE was married in Ireland to Jane McGUINNESS, b. c 1804 Co Derry, Ireland, daughter of Charles McGUINNESS and Isabel McCONACHY.
1841 - John McCONACHY and family arrived at Portland where John was a appointed a policeman for a number of years.
1841 - John McCONACHY listed as Gaol Keeper for Portland Gaol.
1849 - John was granted a licence to the "Woodford Inn" on the Glenelg River at Dartmoor.
1856 - John McCONACHY built the "Rising Sun" hotel at Hotspur on the Crawford River.
1850s - J. McCONACHY as listed as an early landowner on the Hotspur Parish map.
1859 Mary McCONACHY, daughter of John and Jane married Henry McCOMBE and they raised a large family at Narrawong, near Portland.
