Henry RULE b.1831 Essex, England, son of ____? arrived in Victoria as a convict on the "Eden" in 1849 after being convicted in 1845, Essex, England of stealing. He was sentenced to 7 years prison and transported on the "Eden" in 1849 and issued with a Conditional Pardon upon arrival in Port Philip in 1849.

Henry RULE was married in 1854 at Portland, Victoria to Jane McMAHON b. 1832, Clare, Ireland, daughter of Patrick McMAHON and Julia CUMMINS.

Henry and Jane RULE lived at Grassdale near Digby and Hotspur before moving to Apsley where Henry died in 1883.

Jane RULE, widow of Henry moved to NSW where she died in 1898.

Jane McMAHON's sister, Margaret married James SMITH at Hotspur in 1856, lived there for a few years before moving north to Sandford and then on to Apsley.
