John SMITH b. c.1816 Inverness-shire, Scotland, son of Charles SMITH and Ellen CATTANACH was married in Victoria in 1868 to Catherine McINNES b. c.1849 Inverness-Shire, Scotland, daughter of John McINNES and Flora McDONALD.

Catherine McINNES was the younger sister of Kate McINESS who was married to Neil McRAE.

John SMITH was married prior to 1868, as he was a widower, aged 52y when he married in 1868 at Hotspur, S-W Victoria to Catherine McINNES, but nothing is currently known of his first marriage.

John SMITH died at Hotspur in 1892 and was buried in the Hotspur cemetery and his widow Catherine also died at Hostspur in 1920.

John SMITH and Catherine McINNES had the following children:
