Robert ROSCOE ~1827-1909 was b. Lancashire, England, son of William ROSCOE & ........ and was first noted at Dismal Swamp, Tarpeena, S-E South Australia in 1864 when he advertised a reward for the return of a lost stolen or strayed horse.

Mary EARLY ~1840-1930 was b. Co Tipperary, Ireland, daughter of Patrick EARLY and ........... She has been first noted at Kingston, S-E South Australia when she married in 1865.

Robert ROSCOE & Mary EARLY were married in 1865 at the residnce of Walter SCHOFIELD, Kingston, near Robe, S-E South Australia. A daughter was born the following year in Mount Gambier, S-E South Australia and by 1867 they were at Merino, S-W Victoria where their second child was born. Another seven children were born in the Merino and sandford area from 1868 to 1879, with some of them attending the Mocamboro SS by 1878.

Robert ROSCOE acqured land in the Myaring or Killara area bewteen Bahgallah and Dartmoor and sold it to Thomas CAWKER in 1897. By then it appears that he had already moved to the Condah area of S-W Victoria and had a farm at Breakaway Creek, near Condah.

Some of their sons went prospecting in Western Australia, and one them John, enlisted as Tpr 81, in the 3rd West Australian Bushmen Contingent, and served in the Boer War in South Africa in 1900. John was severely wounded at Elands River Post, South Africa in August 1900, and later died in Johannesburg where he was buried.

Robert ROSCOE died at Breakaway Creek in 1909 and was buried in the Condah & Myamyn Cemetery. His widow Mary died at Hamilton in 1930.
