John Francis CULL was b. 1858, London, England son of Capt. John Francis CULL and Ann CHAPMAN. As as a boy employed in the office of the East India Dock Company. In 1878 he came to Australia, and followed railway construction work in Western Australia for some years. He settled in the Sandford district, Victoria, in 1884.
Janet Sutherland TAIT was b. 1859, Creswick, Victoria, daughter of George TAIT and Janet MUNRO who had arrived at Portland, S-W Victoria in 1852 on the "Priam." They went to the Ballarat goldfields but had settled at Merino, S-W Victoria by 1860.
John Francis CULL married Janet Sutherland TAIT at Sandford, S-W Victoria in 1884 and had a family of 10 children born from 1886 to 1916 at Sandford, S-W Victoria, with 4 of their sons serving in the 1st AIF.
John Francis CULL died in Melbourne in 1920 and his widow Janet died there in 1941.
