James LARKIN c.1840-1931 was born in Co Antrim, Ireland son of Patrick LARKIN & Mary McBRIDE and arrived in Australia before 1865. Two sisters Mary LARKIN c.1834-1903 who married James "Jimmy" REID and Hannah LARKIN c.1846-1932 who married John Allan BLAIR, also emigrated to Australia.

Bridget McNAMARA c.1835-1902, b. Co Clare, Ireland, daughter of Denis McNAMARA & Mary O'BRIEN also emigrated to Australia before 1865.

James LARKIN and Bridget McNAMARA married at Penola, S-E South Australia in 1865 and their first child, Patrick was born at nearby Mount Gambier in 1866. By 1867 they had moved across the border to Sandford, S-W Victoria where another five children were born from 1867 to 1874. It appears that James LARKIN was employed at "Runnymede" Station near Sandford during this period. He spent nearly 12 months in gaol during 1873-'74 because he could not raise the bail after being charged with a crime for which he was later acquitted.

Their last child appears to have been Bridget LARKIN born in 1878 in Hamilton, S-W Victoria, known as Bridget when she enrolled at the Bahgallah school in 1885. Bridget appears to have changed her name to Margaret LARKIN prior to her 1897 marriage in Melbourne to Henry O'GRADY which resulted in a divorce on 1906. She was again known as Margaret on her 1907 marriage in Melbourne to Thomas Edward HOPE 1850-1928.

Bridget LARKIN (nee McNAMARA) died at Hamilton, S-W Victoria in 1902 and was buried in the Branxholme cemetery.

James LARKIN died, aged 91, at Northcote, Melbourne, Victoria in 1931 and was buried in the Fawkner cemetery .
