Koolomert SS opened on 15th of May 1877, with William CORRY as HT. It was situated in the Nareen area along Carey's Road near the Carey homestead. At a later date the building was moved some 2 miles further along the road and in about 1898 was again moved to the present Nareen School site becoming SS 2303 Nareen, replacing the building then used by the school. In 1949, the building, no longer suitable as a school, was moved to "Ethandune", Coleraine for use as a woolshed.
