Eli COWELL, plowman, had been convicted in Buckinghamshire in 1831 and was transported to Van Diemen's land in 1832.

It appears that Eli may have been married a Penelope HAINES in 1830 at Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire.

Eli COWELL applied to marry Janet CREIGHTON in Van Diemen's land in 1841 and this marriage took place at Launceston in 1842.

Eli COWELL died at "Rifle Downs" in 1875 and Janet died at Digby in 1894 and they were both buried in the Digby Cemetery.
