John McCABE b. 1837 Donegal, Ireland, son of Charles McCABE and Mary DEBIT who was married in 1855 at Tyrone, Ireland to Matilda CRAIG b. 1836, Tyrone, Ireland, daughter of William CRAIG and Mary DORK / DOAK.

John & Matilda McCABE arrived at Portland on the "General Hewitt" in 1856.

Matilda CRAIG's sister Mary Jane CRAIG 1831-1923 also came to Victoria and married Stephen NORMAN at Sandford in 1867.
