Daniel, James & John McCLINTOCK were three brothers from Co Donegal, Ireland, who became farmers near Grassdale & Digby in S-W Victoria, and Horsham in Western Victoria. They appear to have arrived from Ireland in the early 1860s. At last one more brother must have remained in Ireland, as his son Daniel ~1882-1938, emigrated to New Zealand and died at Christchurch in 1938.

Daniel McCLINTOCK appears to have been born ca. 1834, probably in Co Donegal, Ireland (as were his younger brothers), son of David McCLINTOCK and Mary CRAWFORD. Daniel did not marry and was reported to be a farmer in the Digby area in 1898 when his brother James died at Horsham. In his will of 1912, Daniel left a block of land in Hamilton to his neice Rebbeca McCLINTOCK and the remainder of his estate to his nephew Daniel McCLINTOCK, said to be living near Christchurch in New Zealand. Daniel McLINTOCK, aged 77y, was recorded as a retired gentleman when he died at Hamilton in 1912 and was buried in the Hamilton Cemetery.

James Young McCLINTOCK was born ca. 1839, probably in Co Donegal, Ireland, son of David McCLINTOCK and Mary CRAWFORD. James did not marry and was reported to have arrived in 1863 and took up land at Bassett, near Branxholme. He later farmed land at Grassdale, near Digby, also land near Hamilton, and later settled at Blackheath, near Horsham. He died at Horsham in 1898 and his obituary mention his brothers Daniel and John.

John McCLINTOCK b. 1843, Co Donegal, Ireland son of David McCLINTOCK and Mary CRAWFORD was married in 1878 to Sarah Ann DIWELL who had been born in 1850 in Surrey, England, daughter of William DIWELL & Margaret Ann TURNER. The two children they had before Sarah died were:

2. David McCLINTOCK b. 1880, Digby, Vic;

After the death of his first wife John married her sister Margaret DIWELL who had been born in Portland in 1857 and they had the following children:

In the 1912 will of Daniel McCLINTOCK of Hamilton, Vic., he left a block of land in Hamilton to his neice Rebbeca McCLINTOCK (probably the Rebecca, daughter of John) and the remainder of his estate to his nephew Daniel McCLINTOCK, said to be living near Christchurch in New Zealand.
