Thomas McEVOY b. 1835 Dunlavin, Ireland, son of David McEVOY and Mary HAYDEN, married in 1856 in Co Antrim, Ireland to Charlotte ENNIS b. 1841 Co Antrim, Ireland, daughter of James ENNIS and Mary Ann ___.

Thomas McEVOY was a Police Senior Constable at Digby, owned land at Carapook and held the lease of the Sandford Hotel from 1859-1862 (according to "Echoes of the Past"). Other information has him leasing the hotel from 1862-1865. He was later a farmer at Bahgallah, near Casterton.

Thomas McEVOY and Charlotte ENNIS had the following children:

  2. Mary Ann McEVOY b 1858 Portland, Vic, m. Andrew GILMORE 1850-1941 (son of William GILMORE and Margaret STRANGE);

Thomas McEVOY's first wife Charlotte died in 1861 and he married again at Sandford in 1865 to Elizabeth HAWKINS b. 1844, Van Diemen's Land, daughter of John HAWKINS and Frances LAMB. The writing on the 1865 marriage certificate looks like Frances LANG not LAMB, but other evidence indicates it should have been LAMB.
