James PICKEN b. 1834 Waterside, Ayrshire, Scotland son of Hamilton Robertson PICKEN and Jean FULTON arrived in Victoria on the "Gipsy Bride" in 1855.

Was Jean FULTON, the mother of James PICKEN, a sister of James FULTON 1802-1869 who built the first Flour Mill in 1857 in Merino, S-W Victoria? James PICKEN was an engine driver at James FULTON's flour Mill at Merino in the 1860s and 1870s.

Margaret GARDINER was b. 1846, Dunning, Perthshire, Scotland, daughter of James GARDINER and Margaret TAYLOR and arrived with her family at Portland, S-W Victoria on the "John Davies" in 1852.

James PICKEN was married in 1862 at Sandford, S-W Victoria to Margaret GARDINER they had a number of children at Merino before moving to Chetwynd, north of Casterton, S-W Victoria.

James PICKEN was a member of the Digby Ancient Order of Foresters from 1864-1872.

James PICKEN and his wife Margaret died and were buried at Chetwynd, north of Casterton in 1919 and 1924 respectively.
