Farquhar MATHESON c.1792-1883, b. Lochalsh, Ross-shire, Scotland, son of ... MATHESON and Mary McRAE. Farquhar MATHESON and Mary MATHESON along with six children, 2 neices and a nephew, emigrated from Liverpool on the ship "New Zealander" and arrived at Portland Bay, S-W Victoria, Australia on 30 November 1853. The passenger list recorded the family as :--Farquhar MATHESON (48, Agr. Labourer from Creagh, Lochalsh, Ross-shire, Scotland), Mary (36), Isabella (17), Murdo (14), Mary (12), Rebecca (10), Christy (6), Donald (4), as well as Alexander MATHESON (27, Nephew), Mary MATHESON (28, Niece) & Rebecca MATHESON (24, Niece).

Farquhar and Mary MATHESON and family were engaged upon arrival at Portland by John PEARSON at his station at Yambuk, east of Portland, S-W Victoria. They then moved to "Nangeela" station on the Glenelg river near Casterton and by 1861 they had selected land which they named "Craig" Farm, Dwyer's Creek, Henty, south of Sandford, S-W Victoria.

Farquhar and Mary MATHESON both died at their residence "Craig" Farm, Dwyer's Creek, Henty, south of Sandford, S-W Victoria and are buried in the Old Casterton cemetery.
