Robert TOWART, b. 1832, Glasgow, Scotland, son of Robert James TOWART and Catherine SIM. He appears to have migrated to Van Diemen's Land by 1840 with his mother and older sister Elizabeth TOWART who married William GATENBY at Avoca, V.D.L in 1840.
Sarah Elizabeth JACKSON b. 1833, Launceston, Van Diemen's Land, daughter of John Henry JACKSON and Sarah Elizabeth LOWE and was a sister of John Henry JACKSON of "Sandford House" station on the Wannon in S-W Victoria.
Robert TOWART and Sarah Elizabeth JACKSON were married at Sandford, S-W Victoria in 1857 where Robert appears to have had positions on "Pieracle" and "Runnymede" stations, where some of their children were born. Locations of stations can be seen on a map showing pastoral runs in the area.
Sarah Elizabeth TOWART died at Sandford in 1883 and Robert died in the Hamilton Hospital in 1894, by when he was classified as a wool-scourer of Casterton. They are both buried in the Sandford Cemetery.
