George COXON b. 1822, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England son of Francis COXON and Mary HERBERT was married in 1843 at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England to Mary DODGSON, b. 1821, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England, daughter of Timothy DODGSON and Ann HUTCHINSON.

George and Mary COXON and seven children (Anne, Mary, John, George, Elizabeth, Francis & Hannah) arrived in Victoria from England in December 1857 on the "John BARBOUR". Another child, James Edward was born born at Happy Valley, near Linton, Victoria, 1860.

George COXON had been a Mining Engineer at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and appears to have continued with this occupation on the Victorian Goldfields in the 1850s and 1860s.

One son John, settled at Brimboal, Wando Vale in the 1870s and 3 of his sons established COXON's Garage in Casterton in 1915.

George COXON's wife Mary died in 1873 and was buried in the Sandford Cemetery.

George COXON, widower, married Jane Louisa LAW, nee FRASER in 1878. George disposed of his property about 1882 and the elderly couple retired to Portland for the next ten years.

George COXON died in 1892 at Portland and was buried with his first wife in the Sandford Cemetery. His second wife died in portland in 1905.
